Time to get outside!

The winter is the season of the Shadow. In the winter we are meant to retreat inside and focus on the things we have buried deep down. Our minds and bodies both retreat. Our minds focus on what's inside of us, and our bodies retreat into our homes. Most people don't like the winter. They fear the Shadow. They don't like the cold. They don't like the dark. I, myself, love these things. I love the opportunity for self reflection. I love the healing power of the cold. And I love the peace in the darkness.

But now it's time to focus on the surface and what's outside. As the flowers begin to bloom and the heat starts to rise, we are now able to get out of ourselves and out of our homes.

I just came inside after doing some flint knapping as the sun set. I was doing some reflecting and felt the need to start the blog I meant to start several years ago.

You may or may not know that I have a degree in Literature. The earlier version of myself desired to be a writer. I wanted to write “The Great American Novel.” But then as time moved on, my priorities changed. But my desire to write has never went away.

The reason I've been sleeping on this blog for so long, is the pressure of being both a writer and a healer. The fear of whether of not I truly have a message to spread. And not knowing what the expectation is. Are you, the reader, waiting on the revelation triggered by my words? Are you here just to understand me more? Are you curious of the wisdom I have to share?

Then I realized, the blog is just my thoughts. And nothing more.

Perhaps there will be revelations in these words. Or perhaps there won't. Either way, I am just going to write. Feel free to reach out to me and let me know if these words have been useful to you.
