Meet Bob
You’ve heard it all before. We all have trauma. A lot of us come from a dark past. To tell you my story is just going to repeat something you’ve seen a thousand times, especially with the internet these days. It’s the same story. Maybe some details are different, but it’s mostly all the same. There’s loss. There’s drug use. There’s heartbreak. There’s isolation.
I’m telling you a bit about my journey because you have a right to know.
My entire life, I suffered from mental illness. A fun concoction of bipolar disorder, OCD, anxiety, and insomnia. I became my own worst enemy. I pretty much ruined my life again and again. It was just a cycle with no end. My relationships. My friendships. My financial situation. They all took a blow.
I spent the majority of my life in the arts and show business. I was a stand up comedian, a filmmaker, a writer, an actor, and even an investigative journalist. I even spent some time in the ring as a professional wrestler. But it came to a point where no one wanted to work with me. No one wanted to book me. People I considered friends, were no longer answering my calls. I was pretty much blacklisted from all my outlets. I was in a prison of my own design. I went on for a while just living in this downfall.
One day, I texted my best friend and told her I was going to admit myself into a psychiatric unit. I was out of options. I didn’t know what to do at that point. So I was just going to continue the cycle. She told me to meet her for lunch to talk about it first. As I was on my way to meet her, I was listening to a Gabby Bernstein book, of all things. And it all just clicked.
I was consuming the content for years. I’ve tried meditation and yoga. I’ve read self help books. I went to therapy. I took medication. I went to support groups. I did everything I was supposed to do. My life turned into the definition of insanity. I just kept ending up back where I started.
You can call it divine intervention if you want. It was just that I was at the right place where I was ready to listen. Everything fell into place on that one afternoon in July so long ago. My guides helped me find the path, and I was ready to follow it.
I got a spiritual coach. I joined a men’s support community. I went to retreats. I kept reading books. I incorporated the lessons I’ve learned from heavy metal over the years to help turn me into a champion. It wasn’t long until I started facilitating groups in that community. And I traded my coach for a teacher. And then Heavy Metal Healer was born.
You deserve to know my story if you’re considering to work with me, but my story is not what’s important here. It’s your story that matters. The story you are ready to create or rebuild. And I’m here to help. As your guide.
You’re the one putting in the work. I can only show you the way. It’s up to you to walk the path.
You don’t need to go anywhere. Because all the answers you seek exist inside of you. It’s time to make that journey inward. It’s time to face the storm.
